Rabat – The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced that a Houthi attack on Saturday killed at least 12 people at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
GACA confirmed that the death toll includes at least four Saudi citizens and two Bangladeshis.
The victims also included one person each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, and Egypt.
The attack left at least 309 people injured, sparking condemnation and an uproar in the international community, with analysts expecting a collective response, potentially involving the US.
The attack is among the latest to target Saudi facilities and civilians.
The Houthis have claimed several similar attacks on airports, including one that killed a Moroccan national earlier this week.
One of those injured in the latest attack is in critical condition, while all the wounded are receiving medical care.
GACA said one of the Houthi attacks on King Khalid International Airport earlier this week, on Thursday, killed at least three Saudi citizens, including a pilot.
Operations at the airport were temporarily suspended, and flights were also canceled.
The Saudi-led coalition called the attack a “full-fledged war crime.”
Spokesperson Major-General Turki al-Malki vowed a decisive response from the coalition, describing the latest assault as a terrorist attack.
The international community has been concerned about the situation since the start of the attacks, with many countries expressing support and emphasizing how the security and stability of the Gulf country also reflect their own.
