Rabat – Moroccan international Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal has reached an agreement with French club Stade Rennais to extend his contract.
According to Foot Mercato, the young defender is expected to commit his long-term future to the Ligue 1 outfit after successful negotiations between both parties.
An agreement has been reached to extend the contract of the Moroccan defender, who has made four appearances so far this season, logging a total of 280 minutes on the pitch.
Despite his limited playing time, he remains a key figure in the French club’s long-term plans.
Ait Boudlal has endured a tough start to the season at Stade Rennais, coming under public criticism from head coach Franck Haise over his performances.
Adding to the pressure, sporting director Loïc Désiré has also voiced concerns regarding the player’s inconsistent form on the pitch.
A product of the Mohammed VI Football Academy, Ait Boudlal is currently under contract with Stade Rennais until June 2028.
The existing agreement gives the French club a solid foundation as they finalize the terms of his new extension.
Ait Boudlal officially completed his move to Stade Rennais in July 2024 on a four-year deal.
To aid his adaptation to European football, Rennes sent him on a short loan spell to Ligue 2 side Amiens SC in February 2025 for the remainder of the 2024–25 campaign before bringing him back into their first-team setup.
With his future secured at Roazhon Park, Ait Boudlal will look to put a challenging start to the season behind him and establish himself as a consistent presence in Rennes’ defensive rotation.
