Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan presided over the award ceremony for the Grand Prix of King Mohammed VI in showjumping on Sunday afternoon at the Mohammed VI Exhibition Center in El Jadida.
The competition, a highlight of Morocco’s national equestrian calendar, took place as part of the final of the 15th edition of the Morocco Royal Tour CSI 5*W. The event coincided with the 17th edition of the El Jadida Horse Show.
Upon his arrival at the exhibition center, the Crown Prince was welcomed by Moulay Abdellah Alaoui, president of the Horse Show Association, before reviewing a detachment of the Royal Guard.
He was also received by Khalid Hatimy, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, and Food Sovereignty; Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Sports; and Fayçal Laâraichi, President of the Moroccan National Olympic Committee.
Other officials present included Mohamed Mhidia, Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region and Governor of Casablanca Prefecture; Abdellatif Maâzouz, President of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council; and Sidi Saleh Daha, Governor of El Jadida Province, alongside local elected officials and members of the Horse Show Association’s board.
The Crown Prince then attended the second round of the Grand Prix at Arena A of the Mohammed VI Exhibition Center.
Belgian rider Jérôme Guery, riding Kiliman Sitte, claimed first place after two rounds of competition featuring 44 riders representing 16 countries: Morocco, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Brazil, Switzerland, Spain, Greece, Colombia, Portugal, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Monaco.
The Morocco Royal Tour Foundation organized the competition as part of the International Equestrian Federation’s sporting calendar.
Following the event, the Crown Prince presented the Grand Prix trophy to Guery and awarded prizes to the four other top-ranked riders.
British rider Chloe Aston, riding Akito Von Rocherath Z, finished second, followed by French rider Simon Delestre on Golden Boy DK in third place. Germany’s Tom Schewe, riding Congress Blue PS, placed fourth, while Italy’s Roberto Previtali, riding Quirinus 27, finished fifth.
The Crown Prince later posed for a commemorative photograph with the prize-winning riders.
The Morocco Royal Tour is an established fixture on the international equestrian calendar. The showjumping circuit takes place across three Moroccan cities, with stages in Tetouan from October 1 to 4, Rabat from October 7 to 11, and El Jadida from October 15 to 18.
This year’s El Jadida stage marks a significant step forward, as the competition has reached CSI 5*W status, the highest level of international showjumping competition and a qualifying route for the FEI Jumping World Cup.
The upgrade builds on the broader progression introduced throughout this edition. The circuit moved from CSI 1* to CSI 2* level during the opening stage in Tetouan, with the higher classification continuing in Rabat before the final stage in El Jadida reached CSI 5*W status.
This progression reflects the Morocco Royal Tour’s ambition to raise the standard of competition, strengthen Morocco’s presence on the international equestrian scene, and provide riders with more opportunities to compete at the highest level.
