Rabat – Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in Moroccan international Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, better known as Ez Abde, as the 24-year-old winger continues to attract attention through his performances with Real Betis.
According to Turkish transfer journalist Ekrem Konur, both clubs have monitored Abde for some time and remain interested in the possibility of signing him.
Konur reported on Thursday that the Moroccan’s contract includes a release clause of approximately €60 million, a figure that Spanish media have also previously confirmed.
However, neither Barcelona nor PSG has made a public announcement concerning the player, and no formal offer has emerged.
PSG links resurface
Abde’s name has circulated in French transfer reports following the injury to PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during Tuesday’s Champions League victory over Barcelona.
However, Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo reported on Thursday that Real Betis had no indication of concrete interest from PSG.
The newspaper also recalled that Abde’s former agent, Javier Garrido, denied reports of a meeting in Paris earlier this year.
At the moment, the reports suggest that PSG are monitoring the winger rather than pursuing active negotiations.
Abde has become an important attacking player for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. He has scored four goals in eight appearances this season.
His performances have also attracted attention in Spain, particularly after his goal against Porto in the Champions League earlier this month.
Barcelona’s financial stake
A potential return to Barcelona would carry additional significance given Abde’s previous spell with the Catalan club.
The Moroccan joined Barcelona in 2021 before moving to Real Betis in September 2023 for €7.5 million.
Barcelona initially retained 50% of his economic rights but later transferred another 30% to Betis under an agreement related to Vitor Roque’s departure.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona currently retain a 20% economic interest in Abde, whose contract with Betis runs until June 2029.
The Catalan club no longer holds a buyback option, which means any attempt to sign him would require fresh negotiations.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick also spoke favorably about the Moroccan ahead of their recent La Liga encounter.
“He’s a fantastic player. I’m impressed by what I see of him,” Flick said, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The German coach referred specifically to Abde’s ability in one-on-one situations and his goal against Porto.
Despite the renewed transfer speculation, Abde remains under contract with Betis, and neither interested club has confirmed plans to pursue his signature
