Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has launched specialized training sessions on document fraud detection at the Higher Institute of Security Sciences in Ifrane, with a focus on strengthening professional expertise and international security cooperation.
The program runs from October 26 to November 6 and brings together Moroccan security personnel and Dutch experts to train instructors in document examination, fraud detection, and the identification of forged documents.
The initiative seeks to improve the technical and professional skills of DGSN personnel through the exchange of expertise and best practices between Moroccan and Dutch security institutions.
The training covers methods to examine documents and verify their authenticity, identify signs of forgery, and understand the techniques used by perpetrators. Participants will also examine the challenges law enforcement agencies face as document fraud methods continue to evolve.
Linda Wiegel, a Dutch police sergeant and document fraud expert who serves as one of the program’s instructors, told Morocco’s state news agency MAP that the sessions focus on training trainers in teaching methods, with particular emphasis on sharing professional experience and expertise in combating document forgery.
Wiegel described the program as an example of continued cooperation between the DGSN and the Netherlands. She also thanked Morocco’s national police for their efforts to advance bilateral security cooperation, which have enabled several basic training programs in different security fields.
She further welcomed the exchange of expertise and visits by security officials from both countries.
Abdelhamid Rhach, chief police commissioner and head of protocol and internship management at the Higher Institute of Security Sciences in Ifrane, said the sessions aim to strengthen international security cooperation while improving the technical, professional, and theoretical capabilities of DGSN personnel.
He added that the program reflects the institute’s commitment to specialized training and closer cooperation with international security institutions.
The initiative forms part of the DGSN’s broader efforts to draw on international experience while sharing its own expertise with partner institutions. It also seeks to establish a lasting framework for specialized training and professional exchanges.
Through these programs, Moroccan and Dutch security institutions aim to strengthen their capacity to respond to evolving forms of crime and prepare specialized personnel for current and future security challenges.
