Rabat – Halima, a 21-year-old Moroccan homeless girl from Khemisset, has tragically become a rape victim due to her disability.

Some pervert individuals capitalise on their power to abuse Halima who suffers from complete trisomy, a chromosomal condition associated with abnormalities in many parts of the body that prevents individuals from growing normally.

Samira, a Moroccan who lives in France and dedicates her energies to supporting cases such as these, said that she is shocked due to the negligence of authorities towards Halima, who goes through dire miserable circumstances in the street, without anyone taking her to a centre for disabled services.

“Every time I come to Khemisset – I am shocked by Halima’s lifestyle. My family members and I try to look after her and provide the initial remedies for her. However, at the end of our vacation Halima returns to the street anew,” Samira said, “The investigations found that Halima is an orphan and that she has been pregnant ten times but [individuals terminated her pregnancies].”

Samira added that she will launch a fundraiser to allocate a monthly salary for someone who can look after Halima when she [Samira] is in France.

Samira is due to return to France next week and she hopes to save Halima from daily sexual assault by finding someone who can consider Halima as his/her daughter.

Meanwhile, social media users and activists are looking for solutions to save Halima by allowing her to enroll in a centre for disabled services in order to save herself from the terror and dangers of living on the streets.
