Rabat – At the ongoing extraordinary arabo-islamic summit, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch emphasized today on Morocco’s continued support for the Palestinian cause, reiterating that it remains a central pillar of the country’s foreign policy.
Speaking on behalf of King Mohammed VI, Akhannouch emphasized Morocco’s call for a long-term solution to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, aligning with the King’s vision of a strategic shift from crisis management to concrete peacebuilding.
King Mohammed VI has consistently highlighted the importance of the Palestinian issue, notably in his speech during the 25th anniversary of the Throne Day.
As Akhannouch explained, the King has stressed the urgent need to transition from temporary measures to pursuing a final resolution to the conflict.
The Prime Minister also pointed to the King’s perspective on the current state of affairs in Gaza, where the priority remains achieving a ceasefire.
However, he made it clear that a ceasefire must be accompanied by the opening of a political horizon that can lead to a just and lasting peace.
“Efforts to revive the peace process must not only focus on negotiations,” Akhannouch remarked, “but also isolate extremist factions that threaten peace on all sides.”

A significant part of Morocco’s response has been humanitarian aid. Under King Mohammed VI’s directive, the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by the monarch, has coordinated urgent medical and humanitarian assistance to Gaza and the wider Palestinian territories.
The country’s support has been facilitated by an unprecedented land route, allowing aid to reach those in need despite the ongoing conflict.
Morocco’s stance at the summit also involved a broader condemnation of the geopolitical trends affecting the region.
Akhannouch criticized Israel’s recent military incursions into Lebanese territory, suggesting the escalation could signal a dangerous turn for the Middle East.
In this context, he stressed that Morocco stands with Lebanon in defending its sovereignty and stability, and supporting its constitutional institutions.
The summit itself, which included key figures such as Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, served as a platform for reaffirming Arab unity on the Palestinian issue.
