Rabat – Hankook, a top-tier tire manufacturer, has launched its first commercial branch in Morocco, marking an important milestone in the company’s expansion into the African market.

Driven by the company’s European headquarters, this move expands Hankook’s presence in the Maghreb and West Africa.

The new branch will offer a wide selection of innovative, high-quality products supported by global research centers, numerous patents, and advanced technological developments.

Overseeing this venture will be Don Yi Jeon, who was recently appointed as General Manager of Hankook’s new Moroccan subsidiary.

Since joining the company in 2007, Jeon has held multiple marketing and sales roles at the company’s headquarters in South Korea and previously led the Middle East and Africa region as Senior Director of the sales office in Dubai.

Commenting on the launch, Sanghoon Lee, President and COO of Hankook Tire Europe, said, “This new office in Morocco is an important step in strengthening our presence in North Africa. We are confident that under Don Yi Jeon’s leadership, we will not only increase our market share but also offer innovative and sustainable solutions tailored to the needs of local customers.”

Hankook’s expansion into Morocco will provide local customers with greater access to a wide variety of high-quality tires, catering to different vehicle types, including passenger cars, vans, SUVs, recreational vehicles, trucks, and buses.

Trusted by major international automakers for original equipment, Hankook generates around 38% of its global sales in Europe.

Hankook’s focus on sustainability aligns with Morocco’s push to improve its eco-friendly practices. The company has said it is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and actively invests in research and development to create tires from recycled and renewable materials.

It currently provides tires as original equipment to several automakers. In addition to manufacturing around 102 million tires each year, the company also offers batteries, alloy wheels, and brake pads.
