Marrakech – Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima is setting the stage for a cultural renaissance

with a hefty MAD 195.5 million ($20,149,598) budget for 2024-2027.

According to a statement, this budget will fuel a range of cultural projects under a regional development program, thanks to a partnership between the regional council, the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, and other key players.

Among the four programs funded by the new budget, the first allocates MAD 40 million ($5,153,350) specifically for developing cultural festivals.

This initiative is designed to stimulate artistic creativity with the organization of vibrant cultural events across all prefectures and provinces in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.

The second program, with a MAD 76 million ($7,833,092 ) budget, focuses on restoring and promoting regional heritage to highlight both tangible and intangible cultural assets.

The third program, with a MAD 69.5 million investment, aims to strengthen cultural infrastructure by building and equipping three new cultural centers, while also supporting research and studies on heritage preservation and the region’s linguistic and cultural diversity.

The fourth program, with an MAD 10 million ($1,,030,670) budget, will enhance the regional cultural offerings and improve the management of archaeological sites through the establishment of a dedicated regional institute.

Funding for these projects will be sourced from the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Regional Council (MAD 92.5 million), the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication (MAD 93.5 million), and various other partners (MAD 9.5 million).
