Morocco and Madagascar have signaled their commitment to enhancing their diplomatic and economic relations with the official opening of the Madagascar embassy in Rabat today.
The inauguration was co-chaired by Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs a Nasser Bourita and his counterpart from Madagascar, Rasata Rafaravavitafika.
In his remarks during the embassy inauguration, Bourita noted the opening of the diplomatic representation coincides with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries this year.
The establishment of this diplomatic mission marks a “significant milestone” and will give new momentum to the “historical and distinguished” ties between the two countries, he added.
The two FMs discussed strategies to enhance political dialogue and expand cooperation across various sectors of shared interests.
Rafaravavitafika echoed Bourita’s remarks, noting that the embassy opening marks the beginning of a new phase in bilateral relations.
The number of African diplomatic missions in Morocco rises to 42 with this new opening, bringing the total figure of embassies in Rabat to 116, in addition to 55 regional and international organizations.
Members of the African diplomatic corps accredited in Rabat as well as members of the Malagasy community in Morocco also attended the event.
