Rabat – The first day of the holy month of Ramadan 2025 is set to fall on March 1 in Malaysia, according to early astrological projections.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. As the Islamic calendar is lunar, the month falls on different days of the Gregorian calendar.

Approximately 60% of Malaysia’s population are Muslims. This equates to about 20 million people out of a total population.

The holy month in the 35-million country feels extra special. It’s not just about fasting but also the way people come together. In the cities, you’ll see the streets lit up with colorful lights, and there’s a whole vibe of excitement in the air.

The food during this month is amazing. At bazaars during Ramadan (the Ramadan markets), you can find so many different dishes – from spicy “satay” to sweet desserts like “kuih” (traditional sweets). The variety is mouth-watering.

The sense of community is really strong too. Families get together for “buka puasa” (breaking the fast) in the evening, and it’s a big thing. You’ll often see large gatherings, with food shared among friends and neighbors. The mosques are full, and there’s this feeling of peace and reflection. People also take time to give back by donating to those in need.

One thing that stands out is how much joy there is in small moments. From sharing dates to the Taraweeh prayers at night, Ramadan in Malaysia feels so full of warmth and kindness. It’s definitely a month where people feel connected, no matter their background.
