Join on Telegram Rabat – Morocco continues to look at avenues with the potential to further boost its vibrant automotive industry, which regularly attracts industry giants from across the world.
A group of Moroccan institutions, including ministries as well as employment-promoting agencies, have signed two agreements to reinforce the sector through promoting employment and training.
The first agreement was signed on Wednesday, and it includes the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, as well as the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC) and the Moroccan Association for the Automotive Industry and Construction (AMICA).
The agreement’s goal is to promote employment in the automotive sector, supporting its growth to meet the sector’s needs.
It also aims to facilitate the recruitment of skilled professionals for automotive companies.
The second partnership agreement was signed between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and AMICA. It focuses on boosting local integration in the automotive industry and increasing the local added value of car and component exports.
Morocco’s automotive sector reached a record export of MAD 157 billion last year, with a 148% growth in less than a decade.
The performance allowed Morocco to boost its position as Africa’s leading automotive manufacturing hub and also strengthen its ranking among world leaders.
The North African country is home to giant industrial players, including Stellantis, whose plant in Kenitra manufactures three urban electric vehicles worldwide.
The Renault Group also assigned electric vehicle models to its Moroccan production sites.
The North African country recently surpassed China to become the European Union’s top automotive trading partner.
Reports last year in October said Morocco edged out China with automotive exports to the EU valued at €15.1 billion in 2023.
