Rabat – A group of Kuwaiti tourists face prison sentences ranging between seven and four months following the death of an underage girl, whose body was found floating in a pool at a house in the Marrakech region.
The case, which did not receive much coverage from many local media outlets, was reported by international news outlets like Al Hurra and Euronews, suggesting that a court in Marrakesh handed sentences ranging between seven and four months to tourists who were present at the scene.
Euronews said last week that a Kuwaiti tourist received a seven-month prison sentence.
Seven others received four months suspended sentences on charges of “immorality and drug use.” A Moroccan woman received a 10-month prison sentence, while two Moroccan girls received two months in prison suspended sentences.
The case dates back to April 16, when authorities discovered the body of the underage girl floating in a swimming pool in a house in Marrakech.
The victim was transported by a car to a private clinic but she already passed, the news outlet said, adding that it is likely that the girl died due to an overdose of drugs.
