Rabat – The court of first instance in Fez sentenced today two “rappers” involved in the controversial “Kobi atay” song to two years in prison each.
In announcing its verdict, the court said the ruling was a firm response to the group’s explicit incitement of underage girls to debauchery.
The song, released on YouTube, features two people, Youssef and Amine, who use “Youss45” and “Men Grave” as their nicknames.
Police arrested the infamous rappers earlier this month after the song stirred controversy, with human rights activists demanding the arrest of the authors and the complete removal of the song from social media, accusing the rappers of glorifying the rape of minors.
The song remains viral on YouTube as well as other social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, with many using it on reels and short videos.
It has made headlines in international news, with activists urging for the removal of the song due to the inclusion of sections deemed unethical.
