Rabat – Eid El Fitr 2024 is expected to occur in Malaysia on April 10th, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, as per astronomical calculations.

The precise date of Eid El Fitr varies each year on the Gregorian calendar, as Islamic holidays are determined by the lunar calendar. Confirmation of Eid El Fitr occurs only after the sighting of the moon on the preceding day.

With the sighting of the crescent moon still pending, Muslims globally rely on astronomical projections to anticipate the day of Eid El Fitr.

This religious observance is celebrated by Muslim communities worldwide and is recognized as a national holiday in countries with Muslim-majority populations.

Charity and prayers are integral aspects of the Eid Al Fitr celebration for Muslims. On the day of Eid, Muslims participate in a special morning prayer, often conducted outdoors to accommodate a large congregation. Following the prayer, worshippers listen to a religious sermon known as the “khotba.”

In Malaysia, Eid Al Fitr is known as “Hari Raya,” while in Singapore, with its 15% Muslim population, the festival is also celebrated with great enthusiasm. Additionally, many migrants from neighboring Muslim-majority countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, or Brunei, actively participate in the Hari Raya festivities in Singapore.

The essence of Eid Al Fitr fills the air long before the official celebrations begin. Visitors can immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere by taking a leisurely stroll, where the streets are adorned with vibrant lights, setting the stage for the upcoming festivities:
