Rabat – Delegates from national parliaments across Arab, African, and Latin American regions convened for the “South-South Parliamentary Cooperation Conference,” emphasizing the need for regional collaboration as a catalyst for socio-economic development.

The conference, held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI and organized by the House of Counselors, concluded with a call for boosting infrastructure and investments in Atlantic-facing African nations.

During the proceedings, delegates lauded the visionary initiative spearheaded by King Mohammed VI aimed at bolstering access to the Atlantic Ocean for coastal countries.

The program aims to explore solutions for integration and economic transformation in the Sahel countries to improve the quality of life for their populations.

Delegates equally commended the North African country’s unwavering commitment to advancing developmental and solidarity initiatives crucial for fostering South-South cooperation.

The Atlantic Initiative took center stage during deliberations with delegates highlighting its potential to leverage Morocco’s Atlantic coast as a strategic hub for enhancing logistical connectivity, facilitating maritime and aerial trade exchanges crucial for economic growth.

The initiative seeks to streamline investment mechanisms in southern countries and promote the integration of value chains, particularly within the African-Arab-Latin American geo-economic sphere rich in global primary resources.

Participants underscored the need to draw inspiration from such initiatives to fortify bilateral cooperation between African, Arab, Latin American, and Caribbean nations.

Delegates emphasized the significance of policies aimed at nurturing strategic partnerships, encouraging investment, technology adoption, and bolstering infrastructure to enhance competitiveness.

In addition, the conference deliberated on the triad of sustainable development, energy, and the environment, recognizing the interplay between these factors in shaping the future trajectory of South-South cooperation.

The event served as a platform for exploring common development opportunities and fostering cultural ties between Africa, the Arab world, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

It notably underscored the collective commitment to building a partnership model that ensures security, stability, and human dignity for the people of southern countries.
