Rabat – The Moroccan national football team arrived in Zambia on Saturday morning, ahead of their match against the Zambian national team on Monday as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Atlas Lions traveled just hours after their overwhelming 5-0 victory over Niger at Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Friday night. That win not only delighted home fans but also officially secured Morocco’s place in the 2026 World Cup.
With 18 points at the top of the table, Morocco became the first African country to qualify, sitting eight points clear of its closest rivals Tanzania.
Even though qualification is already secured, the team is preparing to continue their campaign with focus and ambition. The Moroccan Football Federation’s official page shared photos of the squad upon arrival in Zambia. The players seemed in good spirits as they gear up for the upcoming clash.

After the Niger game, head coach Walid Regragui commended his players but reminded them that the expectations are now higher than ever. He explained that in the past, Moroccan fans were satisfied with getting a single point in tough matches to secure qualification, but now things have changed.
“The bar is high,” Regragui said, adding that the team is now expected to win every game, even when qualification is already guaranteed.
Morocco’s recent performances, including their historic run at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, have raised hopes and ambitions for the team.
Fans are now looking not just at qualification, but at consistent victories and the long-awaited dream of lifting an African Cup of Nations trophy.
