Morocco are reportedly set to play Argentina in a high-profile friendly this November — a game that could mark the grand reopening of Tangier’s renovated stadium and serve as the Atlas Lions’ final test before the Africa Cup of Nations.
Head coach Walid Regragui hinted last month that his side would meet a South American opponent during the November FIFA window. According to several reports from both Morocco and Argentina, the opponent is none other than the world champions.

Argentine media say La Albiceleste are planning two fixtures next month — one against Angola in Luanda and another likely against Morocco. Initially, the team had been scheduled to travel to India, but that plan has reportedly been scrapped.
Neither federation has confirmed the match.
The last meeting between the two sides dates back to March 2019, also in Tangier, when Argentina – without Messi – won 1–0 thanks to a late strike from Paulo Dybala. That victory marked the start of Lionel Scaloni’s golden era, which has since delivered the Copa América, the Finalissima, and a World Cup title in Qatar.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s immediate focus remains on the CAF World Cup qualifiers to finish on a high note. The Atlas Lions will host the Republic of Congo on October 14 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. Regragui’s men will aim to close the qualification round with a flawless record – eight wins from eight – and potentially surpass the 15-match winning streak record jointly held by Germany and Spain.
