Essaouira – Technopark Morocco, a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation in Morocco on a national and regional scale, opened its new location in Essaouira today with the aim of supporting start-ups in the digital, green technology, and cultural sector.

Similar to other tech hubs in Tangier, Casablanca, Rabat, and Agadir, the Essaouira Technopark offers 35 fully functional modular coworking spaces for intrepid national and international entrepreneurs seeking a plug-and-play workstation or a local office, according to Delegate Minister in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform Ghita Mezzour.

With its 2,350 m² of available space, Technopark Essaouira can house 60 Very Small Businesses (VSB), start-ups, and project leaders.

Technopark Morocco is steadfast in its commitment to fostering innovation, expanding financial access, boosting cooperation among ecosystem participants, and assisting businesses as they pursue success, Governor of Essaouira Province Adil El Maliki said in the event’s opening speech.

This initiative is part of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform’s plan to create a cutting-edge local support program for start-ups in the digital, sustainable development, and creative industries as well as for nomadic entrepreneurs.

“We aim to increase the number of Technopark sites to ten sites by 2026,” Mezzour said in a statement.

Thanks to programs specifically created for them, startups in the region will receive tailored support, which will help them grow and expand into both domestic and foreign markets.

For her part, General Director of Technopark Morocco (MITC) Lamiae Benmakhlouf said that “Morocco possesses young startups who have great potential; they only need support in soft skills and financing, and this is what Technopark Essaouira attempts to do.”

According to the regional expansion strategy, three more new Technoparks are expected to open by 2024,  in Fez, Oujda, and Tiznit.
