Rabat – Chinese car parts manufacturer, Citic Dicastal Group, inaugurated a third factory in Knitera’s industrial zone on Wednesday.
Under the name DMC – Dika Morocco Castings, the factory represents the third industrial unit of the group after the first two launched in 2019 and 2020, dedicated to the manufacturing of aluminum rims.
The units, currently operating at full capacity, produce 6 million rims per year and employ 1400 workers, with a total investment of MAD 350 million ($34.9 million).
Converging reports indicate that the new factory will be launched in two phases under an investment of €180 million. The 20,000-square-meter factory boasts an annual production capacity of 5 million parts, 90% of which are intended for export, primarily to Europe and the United States.
The factory is set to create 1,000 new direct jobs, with the first phase of the project having already generated 450 positions.
In addition to producing aluminum casting components for powertrains and chassis, DMC also produces a variety of products that will increase the value added to the automotive industry in Morocco.
The launch ceremony took place in the notable presence of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Morocco, Li Changlin, the governor of the Kenitra province, Fouad M’Hamdi, and the president of Citic Dicastal, Zhu Zhihua.
Commenting on the launch of the new factory, Dicastal Morocco Africa’s Deputy Managing Director Badr Lahmoudi revealed that this new structure will be oriented, for the first time, towards the manufacture of cast aluminum components for powertrains and chassis.
