Rabat — Delta Air Lines announced today that it has officially launched its first nonstop flight connecting Atlanta and Marrakech.
The company said the new flight marks a “historic milestone” for the US carrier. The inaugural flight touched down at Marrakech Menara Airport today.
Delta Air Lines also emphasized the diplomatic importance of the flight, stating that it strengthens US-Morocco ties–positioning Marrakech as a major destination for American travelers.
The company inaugurated its first nonstop trip with a Boeing 767-400ER. The new air route, which operates three times weekly, “opens Morocco’s ‘Red City’ to more than 125 U.S. destinations via Delta’s global hub in Atlanta,” the company added.
The flight makes Delta Air Lines the first airline to operate a nonstop route between the two destinations.
“This new service also represents Delta’s latest entry into North Africa, adding Marrakech to its growing African network alongside Accra, Lagos, Dakar, Cape Town, and Johannesburg,” the press release added.
Christine Marchand-Pardo, Delta’s Managing Director of EMEAI Operations, celebrated the launch of the new non-stop service, saying that this flight marks an “exciting milestone” in the company’s commitment to connecting the US and Africa.
“This route opens the door to one of the world’s most vibrant and culturally rich destinations, making travel more seamless for our customers. With three weekly flights from Atlanta, we’re delivering convenience alongside Delta’s renowned premium experience. From lie-flat seats in Delta One to curated dining and thoughtful amenities across all cabin experiences, customers can expect comfort at every step of their journey.” Marchand-Pardo said.
The flight also aims to strengthen Atlanta’s position as the world’s leading global hub, Delta’s managing director of EMEAI operations said.
Departures from Marrakech will take off on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Departures from Atlanta will be scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Additionally, in response to increased holiday travel demand, Delta will offer a daily service between the two destinations from December 18 and January 6, 2026.
“With seamless one-stop connections through Atlanta, this route brings Marrakech within reach for U.S. travelers, connecting Morocco to cities across the United States, including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Boston, Miami, San Francisco and many more,” the company said.
The statement comes as the US and Morocco continue to strengthen bilateral ties at all levels.
The two countries share a free trade agreement that entered into force in January 2006. Trade totalled $3.4 billion in 2024, up from $34 million in 2005.
