Rabat – Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, led the 10th session of the Strategic Orientation Council of the National Agency for the Development of Oasis and Argan Zones (ANDZOA) on Tuesday in Rabat.

The session focused on assessing the decade-long implementation of the development strategy for oasis and argan zones from 2012 to 2022.

Discussions also revolved around the future plans of the agency, its action plan for 2024-2026, and the comprehensive development program for oasis and argan zones by 2030.

In his opening speech, Sadiki underlined the progress made by ANDZOA since presenting its strategy to King Mohammed VI in October 2013.

Human development indicators in oasis and argan zones have notably improved, including reduced poverty rates and enhanced access to basic infrastructure, a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture said.

The Minister stressed the importance of coordination and partnerships to ensure the continued prioritization of the New Development Model (NMD), including a focus on employment, youth, and women’s integration.

Speaking at the event, Director-General of ANDZOA Latifa Yaakoubi highlighted the agency’s achievements over the past decade, including projects, development indicators, knowledge management, and research enhancement.
