Rabat – The Moroccan women’s national futsal team had a tough evening in Spain, losing 8–1 to the Spanish side in a friendly match on Tuesday.

The game was part of Morocco’s preparation for the upcoming Women’s Futsal World Cup in the Philippines.

Spain, one of the strongest teams in Europe, dominated the encounter from start to finish. Morocco’s only goal came through Nadia Lafteh, a forward for Wydad AC, who found the net midway through the match.

Despite the heavy scoreline, the match provided valuable experience for the Moroccan squad, which is still building its presence on the international futsal stage.

The team, coached by Adel Essayah, will face Spain again on Wednesday in a second friendly. These matches are seen as crucial tests before Morocco makes its debut in the World Cup.

World Cup Context

The inaugural Women’s Futsal World Cup will take place in the Philippines from November 21 to December 7.

Morocco was drawn in Group A alongside the host nation Philippines, Poland, and Argentina. It is a challenging group, but the team hopes to showcase progress on the global stage.

The loss showed the difference between Morocco and top teams like Spain, but it also showed why strong preparation matters.

Playing against tough opponents is critical to help Morocco improve its tactics and give the players more confidence as they enter their first Futsal World Cup tournament.
