Rabat—Morocco continue their push towards the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora. Confidence is growing inside the Lions of the Atlas camp ahead of the tournament on home soil.

Speaking to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), national team goalkeeper Yassine Bounou made Morocco’s ambition loud and clear, sharing that the squad is fully focused on one objective: winning the title.

“All the players are fit and focused to play in the AFCON, which will be held at home. Everything is going well and the group is confident despite this big responsibility: representing Morocco and going to win the title,” Bounou said.

The CAF goalkeeper of the year highlighted how special it is to play this tournament in front of a home crowd, saying it brings both pride and an added sense of responsibility. “For us, it’s something special. When we were young, we used to watch the AFCON or the World Cup on television. Today, it’s our turn, and at home, in our country. We feel a lot of pride and responsibility,” he added.

Bounou also spoke highly of the positive team environment and the self-belief the coaching staff has instilled in the players. “The coach gives us great confidence to approach this AFCON at our best level. I thank all Moroccans for their support, and we expect you in large numbers so we can experience this competition together and give everything,” he concluded.

Morocco have been drawn into Group A and will open their AFCON 2025 campaign against Comoros on Sunday at 8:00 p.m., before facing Mali on January 26 at 9:00 p.m. and Zambia on January 29, 2026 at 8:00 p.m.
