Rabat – Marrakech is gearing up for another spectacular GITEX AFRICA Morocco, convening policymakers, industry leaders, startups, and technology experts from across the world.

This year’s event will take place from April 7-9, again turning Marrakech into a major hub for technology and innovation.

The Digital Development Agency (ADD) and KAOUN International, a subsidiary of the Dubai World Trade Centre, are organizing the event under the auspices of Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.

CEO of GITEX AFRICA Morocco Trixie LohMirmand touted the event’s clear goal for this year, noting that it seeks to go beyond dialogue and fully embrace the era of “concrete execution.”

LohMirmand explained: “By placing this edition under the banner of responsible Artificial Intelligence, we are establishing a reference platform where international innovation engages with African sovereignty.”

The theme for this year’s event is “Catalyzing Africa’s Digital Economy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” bringing together top technology stakeholders to Marrakech to explore ways to build responsible AI infrastructures.

The event also aims to accelerate the scale of high-impact solutions across Africa in addition to evolving digital public policies, aligning fully with the vision of the Digital for Sustainable Development Hub or D4SD. The Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition launched the initiative in partnership with the UN Development Programme.

“Through D4SD, we are building an Arab-African digital cooperation platform based on sharing expertise, developing skills, and deploying AI solutions tailored to our countries’ development priorities,” said Amal El Fallah Serghouchni, Minister of Digital Transition.

For the minister, the overarching ambition is to emphasize the importance of making digital technologies a structuring lever for co-development in Africa.

The goal is to also ensure technological innovation, contributing to sustainable development and improving citizens’ lives, she argued.

Amine El Meezouaghi, Director General of the Digital Development Agency, echoed the minister’s remarks, emphasizing how AI represents a decisive lever for Africa’s digital development.

He also stressed the importance of effective convergence between public policies, infrastructure, and investment.

“GITEX AFRICA Morocco establishes itself as a strategic co-construction platform capable of uniting African and international ecosystems around concrete solutions fully adapted to the realities of the continent,” he said.
