Rabat – Moroccan coach Amine Benhachem is on the verge of making a rapid comeback to the domestic scene, having been strongly linked with the managerial position at Kawkab Marrakech, according to Africa Soccer. Benhachem, who recently parted ways with Wydad Casablanca, left the club following a dip in results and their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup. His departure paved the way for the appointment of Patrice Carteron, bringing an end to a short and turbulent spell in charge.

A quick return on the cards

Sources close to the situation, as reported by the same source, indicate that Benhachem has quickly re-emerged as a top candidate for a return to the Moroccan Professional League. With his availability and recent top-level experience, he is viewed as an attractive option for clubs seeking stability at a critical stage of the season.

Kawkab Marrakech have reportedly identified the former Wydad boss as a priority target as they weigh up a potential change on the bench.

Internal tensions driving change

The Marrakech-based club is currently dealing with internal friction at the leadership level. Tensions have surfaced between technical director Hicham Dmai and sporting director Zaid Blinda, creating an unstable environment behind the scenes.

“The president of Kawkab Marrakech, Driss Haanifa, stood by Blinda in front of Dmai, amid silent tension within the club,” A source quoted by Africa Soccer revealed.

This situation has prompted the club’s management to consider coaching changes, with Dmai’s position increasingly uncertain.

Benhachem high on the shortlist

Amid this backdrop, Benhachem’s name has risen to the top of the shortlist. His familiarity with Moroccan football and immediate availability following his Wydad exit make him a logical candidate to take over.

Kawkab Marrakech are currently 10th in the league standings with 16 points, a position that falls short of expectations for a club aiming to regain its historical stature. The potential arrival of Benhachem could be a move to restore direction and consistency as the season progresses.
