Agadir – GITEX Africa 2026 attracted investors managing more than $350 billion in assets during its fourth edition, reinforcing Morocco’s position as a regional digital hub, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni said on Tuesday.

Speaking before the House of Councillors, Seghrouchni described the event as a major success despite what she called a difficult international context, referring to the war in the Middle East and the instabilities it created.

The technology exhibition welcomed more than 55,000 participants, up from 52,000 recorded during the 2025 edition.

According to the minister, the event brought together around 1,500 exhibitors from 58 countries, alongside 412 investors representing more than 35 countries and overseeing assets exceeding $350 billion.

Seghrouchni said the exhibition also generated strong momentum for startup ecosystems, with more than 4,600 business meetings organized throughout the event.

As part of the ministry’s “Morocco 300” initiative, 300 Moroccan startups received support to participate in the exhibition, while 165 national startups were selected for direct B2B (business-to-business) meetings with investors.

The minister noted that 64% of participating startups entered advanced-stage negotiations following the event, signaling growing investor interest in Morocco’s innovation ecosystem.

She further highlighted the participation of major international investment funds representing more than 80% of startup financing activity across Africa, in addition to development finance institutions seeking opportunities in the continent’s digital economy.

According to Seghrouchni, this year’s edition placed particular emphasis on artificial intelligence and its applications in strategic sectors, including fintech, cybersecurity, smart mobility, data centers, digital education, smart cities, and sovereign digital infrastructure.

The minister said the event continues to strengthen Morocco’s attractiveness as a regional destination for digital investment while supporting the country’s broader ambitions in technological sovereignty and digital transformation.

Looking ahead, Morocco is also preparing to expand the GITEX ecosystem into new strategic sectors with the launch of the first African edition dedicated to healthcare innovation, GITEX Future Health Africa 2026, scheduled to take place in Casablanca from May 4-6.

Organized by Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health (FM6SS), and KAOUN International, the event aims to bring together policymakers, investors, healthcare professionals, and tech leaders to discuss AI-driven healthcare systems, digital infrastructure, and medical innovation across Africa.
