The death toll from the 7 magnitude earthquake that struck Moroccan cities on Friday amounted to 632 as of Saturday at 7:28 a.m.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the number of injured victims also jumped from 153 to at least 329. The number includes 51 victims who are in critical conditions.
According to the ministry, Al Haouz registered the majority of deaths (290), followed by Taroudant (190), Chichaoua (89), Ouarzazate (30), Marrakech (13), and Azilal (11).
Agadir confirmed the death of five people, while Casablanca announced the death of there victims.
The earthquake also claimed the life of a victim in the Youssoufia province.
The ministry also confirmed the collapse of a number of buildings and houses in many Moroccan provinces due to the earthquake.
The earthquake took place a little before 11:14 p.m. on Friday, leaving millions of Moroccans in a state of panic.
Videos and pictures of the damages caused by the earthquake, particularly in the Marrakech region have been circulating online.
Local authorities including security services are mobilizing all resources to provide necessary aid to people affected while collecting more data on the damages caused by the earthquake.
