The regional brigade of the judicial police of Fez apprehended a Dutch national on Wednesday who was the subject of an international search warrant for attempted intentional homicide with a firearm.
The arrested individual, a 43-year-old Dutch citizen, had been evading law enforcement authorities for his alleged involvement in an attempted intentional homicide in the Netherlands.
The crime was reportedly linked to a sophisticated criminal network. The Dutch national had been placed on an Interpol Red Notice at the request of the Dutch judicial authorities.
The investigations into the case led Moroccan law enforcement to the city of Meknes, where the suspect was apprehended in the act of using a false Belgian identity, carrying counterfeit identification documents, which he had been using to travel and evade the search warrant.

The General Directorate of National Security issued a statement detailing the arrest, noting that the Moroccan authorities’ efforts were in line with the country’s commitment to international security cooperation.
The Moroccan security services have been actively collaborating with global counterparts to track down and apprehend individuals wanted for transnational crimes, thereby contributing to the global fight against organized crime, the statement added.
