Rabat – At the end of 2022, Morocco processed 160,000 applications, including nearly 150,000 eVisas issued, according to a statement from the country’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Morocco first introduced the electronic eVisa on July 10, 2022. The initiative has garnered praise for its efficiency and ease of use, enabling a smooth visa acquisition for certain foreign nationals subject to this requirement.
In the statement, the Ministry highlighted the exponential growth in processed applications over the past year. Approximately 6,000 applications were handled in July of 2022, and the number surged to over 15,000 by November of the same year.
The number of applications especially peaked in May 2023, with nearly 18,000 applications successfully handled.
The introduction of the eVisa aligns with the country’s goal to promote Morocco as an attractive destination for both tourism and business ventures.
Among the 150,000 “eVisas” issued, approximately 96.6% were granted for tourism purposes, while 3.4% were intended for business activities.
Beneficiaries of the electronic visa include citizens from Israel, making up 55%, India with 10%, Nigeria with 4.44%, Egypt with 4.41%, Pakistan 3.5%, and Jordan 2.7%.
The e eVisa initiative reflects Morocco’s commitment to facilitating travel for foreign nationals while fostering a welcoming and hospitable environment, the ministry said in its statement.
With its 180-day validity, starting from the date of issuance, the single-entry eVisa allows holders to enjoy a short stay of up to 30 days in Moroccan territory.
