Rabat – Multiple crew members were injured during the filming of a stunt sequence for the highly anticipated film “Gladiator 2” in Morocco.

Paramount Pictures, the studio producing the film, released a statement acknowledging the accident, which happened during a planned stunt sequence.

The studio’s spokesperson emphasized that the injuries sustained by the crew members were not life-threatening and that immediate medical attention was provided by the on-site safety and medical teams.

Currently, all the injured individuals are in stable condition and receiving treatment. Four crew members remain hospitalized, while two others were treated locally and subsequently discharged.

The injuries primarily consisted of burn injuries, according to a source familiar with the production. No cast members were harmed in the accident, which occurred near the end of the shooting day.

‘Gladiator 2’ features a star-studded cast including Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and Connie Nielsen. Ridley Scott, who directed the original film, is returning to direct the sequel, with David Scarpa handling the script.

Released in 2000, ‘Gladiator’ achieved great success, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of the year and winning the Academy Award for Best Picture. Russell Crowe also received the Best Actor award for his performance in the film.

In the statement, Paramount Pictures stressed their commitment to the well-being of the cast and crew, emphasizing the implementation of strict health and safety procedures across all productions.

“The well-being of the cast and crew is of the utmost importance to us, and we have strict health and safety procedures in place on all our productions,” a Paramount spokesperson said in a statement reported by Variety. “We will continue monitoring the situation and taking all necessary precautions as we resume production.”
