Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi said the Atlas Lions’ improved performance in the second half against Canada was the result of careful tactical adjustments made by the entire coaching staff during the break.
Speaking after Morocco’s 3-0 victory and qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals, Ouahbi explained that changes were made after reviewing the first half with the team’s video analysts.
“We had to correct a few things at half-time after consulting our video analysts. After that, we had much more control of the ball.”
The Morocco coach credited the success to the collective work of his technical staff rather than any individual decision.
“All of this was thanks to the vision of the entire staff. We discuss different ideas and apply the best ones. We have an excellent staff, and today we showed that.”
Ouahbi, however, refused to reveal the tactical details behind Morocco’s second-half improvement, saying the team still has important matches ahead.
“I won’t reveal the details of what we did because we still have more matches to play. They had areas where they pressed very aggressively, and we had to avoid them. They also left spaces, so we worked on that by relying on Bono and our midfield players.”
Morocco’s second-half display helped secure a comfortable 3-0 victory over Canada, sending the Atlas Lions into the World Cup quarter-finals as they continue their bid to make more history.
