Morocco Breaks Into Global Top 20 for AI-Ready Outsourcing

Casablanca – Morocco has ranked 19th in the first Global Outsourcing AI Readiness Index, joining the world’s top 20 outsourcing destinations best prepared to integrate artificial intelligence, according to the Moroccan Federation of Outsourcing Services (FMES)

The ranking measures how well major outsourcing destinations are positioned to adapt to the changes brought by AI. For Morocco, the result marks a different picture from the Global Services Location Index by Kearney, where the country was previously ranked 28th.

FMES stressed that the two studies use different methodologies, meaning the latest result should not be viewed as a direct improvement from one ranking to another. Instead, it shows that Morocco performs better when a country’s ability to adopt and integrate AI becomes a central measure of competitiveness.

The federation said the shift reflects broader changes across the outsourcing industry. Traditional advantages alone are no longer enough. Companies are increasingly looking at how destinations combine AI with skilled workers, digital infrastructure and business capabilities.

“When the ability to integrate artificial intelligence becomes a determining factor for competitiveness, Morocco ranks among the world’s 20 best-performing destinations,” FMES said. It attributed the result to the country’s talent pool, experience in outsourced services, infrastructure and an ecosystem working to adopt AI.

Morocco embraced AI early not to replace people but to increase the value they create, said FMES President Youssef Chraibi, adding that the country chose to embrace the technology rather than treat it as a threat to the sector.

The federation said AI should be used to support workers and help the industry move toward more complex and higher-value services instead of focusing only on automation.

The ranking comes as Morocco’s outsourcing industry is also adapting to other changes. Earlier this year, industry officials warned that France’s upcoming restrictions on unsolicited telemarketing calls could affect thousands of jobs in Moroccan call centers, increasing pressure on companies to diversify services and invest in digital and AI-driven activities.

FMES said the new ranking reflects readiness rather than guaranteed economic gains. It said turning that position into new investment, qualified jobs and stronger growth will require continued cooperation between government institutions, including the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, alongside private companies and academic partners.
