Rabat – Mohammadia School of Engineers (EMI) celebrated the graduation of its 63rd class on Wednesday at its campus in Rabat, honoring more than 440 newly qualified engineers ready to contribute to Morocco’s technological, industrial, and sustainable development.

The ceremony, one of the institution’s most significant annual events, brought together graduates, their families, faculty members, institutional partners, and prominent civilian and military figures to celebrate years of perseverance, academic excellence, and achievement.

Speaking during the ceremony, EMI Director Hassane Mahmoudi said the graduating class reflects the school’s continued commitment to excellence and diversity.

“The Mohammadia School of Engineers, one of Morocco’s leading engineering institutions, was founded by the late King Mohammed V,” Mahmoudi told MWN.

“Today, we are celebrating the graduation of the school’s 63rd class of engineers, comprising more than 440 graduates.”

He highlighted the growing presence of women in engineering, noting that female students represent more than 38% of this year’s graduating class.

Mahmoudi also emphasized EMI’s multidisciplinary approach. The institution currently offers around eight engineering disciplines that operate “like eight schools within one institution,” he explained.

Beyond academic training, he stressed the school’s distinctive model, which combines engineering education with military instruction.

“In addition to their academic education, students also receive military training, making them reserve officers,” he said.

“This dual training instills a strong sense of discipline, commitment, and patriotism, enabling them to serve the nation with devotion and contribute to fulfilling the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for Morocco’s development.”

Among those celebrating the occasion was Professor Naoual Semlali Hassani, an EMI alumna from the Class of 1991, who reflected on the institution’s long-standing impact on Morocco’s engineering landscape.

“We’re here to celebrate the 63rd graduating class of engineers, the future engineers who received their diplomas today. We’re very happy and proud of them,” she said.

Hassani highlighted that EMI graduates have gone on to contribute to decision-making both nationally and internationally, particularly in research, industrial innovation, energy, water management, the energy transition, and sustainable development.

For many graduates, the ceremony marked the culmination of years of dedication and sacrifice.

Graduate engineer Anas Ouali, who specialized in Mining Engineering, described the event as a deeply emotional moment.

“It’s an incredibly rewarding moment because you finally see the results of all your hard work. After more than 15 years of studying, it’s a special feeling to see your parents witnessing the achievement they always hoped you would reach,” he said.

Ouali also thanked EMI’s professors and military instructors for their guidance throughout the program.

“We are deeply grateful for the time, dedication, and effort they invested in us. Thanks to their guidance and support, we have been able to reach this important milestone.”

New graduate Nada Lakha echoed those sentiments, describing earning an EMI degree as both an honor and a turning point.

She said graduating from one of Morocco’s oldest and most prestigious engineering schools filled her with pride and marked the beginning of a new chapter in her professional journey.

Lakha added that the graduation ceremony provided graduates with a meaningful opportunity to celebrate years of hard work alongside their families and loved ones.

The ceremony also recognized the top-performing students of the graduating class, reaffirming EMI’s longstanding commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and public service.
