Rabat – Moroccan athlete Badr Siwane bagged two gold medals in a three-day time span at the Africa Cup championship in Aquathlon and Triathlon sports held between May 19-21 in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt.

In the second race, the 2023 PAN Arab championship, the triathlete secured first place, thus becoming Arab champion in the triathlon sport with a record time of 1 hour 2 minutes 5 seconds.
On the third championship day, Siwane topped the podium in the aquathlon sport recording 31 minutes 7 seconds, followed by two egyptians in the second and third place, and for which he became African champion in aquathlon.
These achievements are the result of arduous training, Siwane stated in a recent interview with Morocco World News (MWN). Most of his training sessions are in the Moroccan capital city of Rabat, where he currently lives. For endurance training, he sometimes favors mountainous areas like Ifrane, a city in the Middle Atlas mountains of northern Morocco. He also takes swimming training sessions with the Fath Union Sport (FUS) club in Rabat.

The athlete said his records were all satisfying.
Commenting on his recent achievements, the 28-year old Moroccan athlete was rather philosophical, saying that, good or bad, his records were all satisfying.
Back from a five-month ham injury, Siwane has managed to make a name for himself in the said competitions and is now looking forward to participating in the next Africa Triathlon Cup that will take place on May 27 in Yasmine Hammamet in Tunisia.
“Five months is a very long period, but the most important thing is to come back with a vigorous spirit to compete,” Siwane highlighted.
Siwane is also passionately awaiting the World Triathlon Cup on June 17 in Mexico. He will also participate in other championships afterwards: Hungary and Great Britain in July, Indonesia and China in August, Spain in September, South Korea and Japan in October, and Uruguay in November.

As of now, his ultimate goal is to bag gold medals in both the forthcoming World Triathlon competitions: one in 2024 in Paris and the other in 2028 in Los Angeles.
Triathlon is an endurance multisport race that involves athletes racing in various disciplines, namely swimming, cycling, and running. Aquathlon, on the other hand, includes only running and swimming.

Siwane now aims to achieve the gold at the upcoming World Triathlon competitions.
Siwane was born in Courcouronnes, a commune located in the southern suburbs of Paris in France, from a Moroccan father and a French mother. He has a BA in sports Marketing and he is also a graduate from the Studio Ecole de France en Animation / Radio and TV Production. Today, he is a professional athlete in triathlon with five titles in the African Triathlon Championship.
The suggestion of taking up triathlon came from Siwane’s father who drew the idea from a sports program. He then pushed his son into this game to become the champion he is today.
When asked about his advice to young Moroccans who aspire to realize their dreams, Siwane told MWN that the key to success is self-belief and hard work. “Believe in your dreams and never say they are unattainable, because one day you will end up fulfilling them.”
He also spoke emphatically of the importance of studies for young minds, stressing that youth need to learn and sharpen “time management” skills because only then can they strike a healthy balance between studies and hobbies.
