Casablanca is set to become the center of African esports as it hosts the FIFAe Continental Championship Africa 2026 from August 27 to 29.

Rabat – Casablanca is set to become the center of African esports as it hosts the FIFAe Continental Championship Africa 2026 from August 27 to 29.

The event is being organized by the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games (FRMJE) in partnership with FIFA, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the City of Casablanca, and the African Confederation of Esports (ACES).

Morocco is one of five countries selected by FIFA to host the 2026 FIFAe Continental Championships. The other hosts are Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico, and Portugal.

The continental championships will take place across five continents between August and September as part of the Road to the FIFAe Finals 2026. The global qualification pathway has brought together players and teams from more than 120 countries.

Three days, three esports disciplines

Casablanca will host 13 African nations during the three-day competition, with eight nations competing in each of the three featured disciplines.

The schedule will include:

  • August 27: eFootball Mobile
  • August 28: eFootball Console
  • August 29: Rocket League

The competition will carry major stakes, as teams will fight for the first-ever FIFAe Continental Championship Africa titles in the three disciplines and for places at the FIFAe World Cup 2026.

In each discipline, the winners of the semi-finals will secure qualification for the global tournament.

Morocco strengthens its esports ambitions

Hosting the continental championship represents another step in Morocco’s efforts to establish itself as a major destination for international esports competitions.

The event will also provide a platform for African players and esports communities to showcase their talent while highlighting the continent’s growing competitive gaming ecosystem.

The FRMJE said the tournament forms part of its broader efforts to professionalize esports in Morocco, support emerging talent, and create new opportunities for players and other professionals working in the sector.

The partnership with ACES also reflects a wider continental push to develop and structure African esports through more professional and sustainable competitions.

For three days, Casablanca will bring together players, teams, and esports communities from across Africa for an official FIFAe competition with a direct pathway to the global stage.
