Rabat – The National Airports Office (ONDA) strongly condemned on Sunday what it called misleading information about a toilet at Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) which was shown to be in an unsanitary condition in online footage. The office highlighted that the toilet was closed “for repairs.”
“Following the publication of a video of a toilet in poor condition at Mohammed V Airport, the National Airports Office clarifies that it is a closed toilet for repairs, clearly marked with signs indicating that it is not in use for works,” the office highlighted in a statement.
The statement added that the person who filmed the “poor” condition deliberately entered the working sites and filmed in bad faith, highlighting that “as a result, the office filed a complaint with the Public Prosecution.”
“This person was identified afterwards and presented to the Public Prosecution, and he is now being sued in this case. He will appear in court on May 16,” the ONDA added.
The statement concluded, “The office, which is keen to respect the freedom of expression and the right to information on a daily basis, strongly condemns the attempt to spread misleading information and defamation that would harm the reputation of our country.”
In March, the Airports Council International (ACI) commended Casablanca’s airport for its services, winning a total of three awards at the world’s annual Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards.
The granted awards praised the airport in the categories of best size and region, most dedicated staff, and easiest airport journey.
In June 2022, UK-based consultancy firm Skytrax issued the world’s most improved airport award ranking Casablanca’s in fifth place internationally.
