Rabat – A panel of young Moroccans won on Monday six awards for their remarkable run throughout the fourteenth edition of Arab Robotics Championship held in Qatar between May 6 and 9.

The championship ended with the Moroccan team “Ecolos Builders” securing first place in the science project category, and Morocco’s AMT Challengers team winning third place, according to a press release.

The other Moroccan team, Subrotic, won first place in the competition’s core values category, while Morocco’s Avatar Team won second place in the robot design category.

In the Explore category, the third best poster award went to Morocco’s Ecotec Kids team, while the third best design award was claimed by the Coding Heroes, also a team from Morocco.

“These teams have managed to qualify for the Arab competition thanks to a remarkable record in regional and national competitions organized by the LOOP Association for Science and Technology in partnership with the Ministry of National Education Preschool and Sports, allowing them to obtain qualifying places for this edition,” added the press release.

It recalled that this year’s edition of the international robotics competition is due to take place from May 18 to 22 in Marrakech. In addition to Moroccan teams’ impressive displays at regional and global tournaments, Morocco’s hosting of over 50 countries may serve to  confirm the country’s newfound reputation in the field of educational robotics.

Last year, the High Atlas Club of robotics participated in the 13th edition of the Arab Robotics Championship in Egypt. The championship took place between July 1 and 4 in Sharm El-Sheikh and saw the participation of 120 teams, including four from Morocco.

The High Atlas Club finished the regional competition with two prizes: third place in the Robot Game category and first place in the Motivation Award category.

The club participated in the Arabs Robotics Championship thanks to the First Lego League Morocco, a program that aims to engage children in the field of science and technology.
