Rabat – Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamal has revealed his relentless ambition to keep winning major trophies, saying he wants to build a career defined by sustained success.
The 19-year-old has already collected an impressive list of honors despite his young age. His trophy cabinet includes three La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey, two Spanish Super Cups, two Joan Gamper trophies, a European Championship, and a World Cup.
However, Yamal believes there is still much more to achieve.
Speaking to French sports newspaper L’Équipe, the Barcelona forward explained that winning one major individual or team award would only increase his desire to win more.
“I have many examples. You can always surpass yourself. I have won three La Liga titles and I have in mind to win seven or eight, minimum,” Yamal said.
The young forward also identified the UEFA Champions League as one of the major trophies still missing from his collection.
“I have not won the Champions League yet, I want to win it,” he added.
Yamal then referred to Paris Saint-Germain’s recent European success while describing his ambition to dominate the competition once Barcelona eventually lifts the trophy.
“If I win one, knowing that PSG have won two in a row, I want to win three in a row,” he said.
His comments underline the level of ambition the Barcelona star has developed at an unusually young age. Rather than focusing only on reaching the highest level, Yamal wants to remain there for years and continue collecting major honors.
The same mentality applies to the Ballon d’Or. Yamal said that winning the prestigious individual award would not satisfy him for long.
“If I don’t win the Ballon d’Or, then the following year, I have to win it. And if I win it, then I want to win five more,” he explained.
Yamal has already emerged as one of the most prominent young players in world football and has become an important figure for both Barcelona and Spain.
His performances have also placed him among the players frequently discussed in connection with the Ballon d’Or, although the award remains one of the few major individual achievements still outside his collection.
For Yamal, however, the objective is not simply to win once.
“I believe you can never stop, you can always win more, again and again,” he said.
The Barcelona forward also spoke about his long-term perspective, imagining a future when he can look back on his career with his children.
“Later, when I am sitting at home with my children, I want to tell them: ‘now it is your turn, I have already done many things.’”
Yamal summarized his approach in simple terms: “That is my mentality: win, win, always win.”
