Morocco’s Import Unit Values Rise 10%, Export Values 10.9% in Q2

The unit values of Morocco’s imports and exports rose sharply in Q2 2026, increasing 10.0% and 10.9% year-on-year.

Agadir – Morocco’s import and export unit values increased sharply in the second quarter of 2026, with imports rose 10.0% year-on-year in Q2 2026, and exports increased by 10.9%, according to Morocco’s High Commission for Planning (HCP).

The increase in import unit values mainly reflected a sharp rise in raw mineral products, whose unit values jumped 97.0% year-on-year. The category’s index rose from 98.6 points in Q2 2025 to 194.2 points in Q2 2026.

Energy and lubricants recorded the second-largest increase, with unit values rising 53.1%, pushing the category’s index from 84.0 to 128.6 points.

Other import categories also recorded increases. Unit values for semi-finished products rose 4.6% to 121.7 points, while raw animal and plant products increased 4.1% to 111.9 points.

The index for finished industrial equipment products grew 1.2% to 93.2 points, while finished consumer goods rose 0.8% to 114.2 points.

Two categories recorded declines. Unit values for food, beverages and tobacco fell 0.6% to 126.3 points, while finished agricultural equipment products declined 3.3% to 95.4 points.

Semi-finished products lead export increase

On the export side, semi-finished products recorded the strongest increase among the main categories, with unit values rising 23.4% year-on-year. Their index climbed from 132.9 points in Q2 2025 to 164.0 points in Q2 2026.

Unit values for food, beverages and tobacco increased 16.2% to 110.3 points, while finished agricultural equipment products rose 14.4% to 89.1 points.

The index for raw mineral products increased 7.6% to 125.2 points, while finished industrial equipment products rose 5.0% to 124.6 points.

Finished consumer goods recorded a 3.6% increase to 115.1 points, while energy and lubricants registered a 44.5% increase, taking their index from 85.9 points in Q2 2025 to 124.1 points.

The only export category to record no annual change was raw animal and plant products, whose index remained unchanged at 151.3 points. 

The latest HCP data come as Morocco’s broader foreign trade recorded stronger import growth during the first seven months of 2026. 

According to the Office des Changes, imports increased 15.9% year-on-year to MAD 544.045 billion by the end of July, while exports rose 8.4% to MAD 299.349 billion. The trade deficit consequently widened by 26.5%.
