Agadir – Morocco’s Airports of Morocco, formerly known as the National Airports Office (ONDA), has appointed Nabil Massali to lead its Air Navigation Division as the country prepares for increased air traffic under its Airports 2030 strategy.

The airport operator announced the appointment today, citing Massali’s previous experience as Director of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.

In that role, Massali gained experience in aviation safety, regulatory oversight, and the development of the civil aviation sector. He also developed an understanding of international standards and the mechanisms used to supervise air navigation services, according to the institution.

As head of the Air Navigation Division, Massali will work to improve operational performance and support the division’s development in line with international standards and future air traffic requirements.

The appointment comes as Morocco prepares to expand its airport infrastructure and services through the Airports 2030 strategy. The expected growth in passenger traffic and the expansion of international air services will increase the need for efficient and reliable air navigation systems.

Airports of Morocco said it aims to strengthen its expertise and governance while investing in national talent and preparing its workforce for the sector’s evolving requirements.

It added that Massali’s appointment is part of its efforts to support the transformation of Morocco’s aviation sector and prepare for upcoming development milestones.

The appointment also comes as Morocco pursues ambitious tourism targets ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which the country will co-host with Spain and Portugal.

The government aims to attract 26 million tourists by 2030 under a new tourism roadmap covering the 2027-2030 period, Head of Government Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri announced when presenting the government’s 2026-2031 program to Parliament on October 19

The government plans to support this goal through increased investment in infrastructure and productive sectors, alongside efforts to strengthen the country’s tourism offering. Improving airport capacity and international connectivity will remain important to accommodating more visitors and supporting the expansion of the sector.
