Rabat- The Asian Tour’s International Series Morocco will feature eight Moroccan top professional and amateur golfers, competing against some of the biggest names in international golf from November 3 to 6 at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat.

Moroccan professional golfer Ayoub Lguirati, winner of the National Professional Championship in 2021, will be present in Rabat, along with Yassine Touhami, Othman Raouzi and Karim El Hali, according to a press release.

These four professionals will be joined by a quartet of elite amateur golf players including  El Mehdi Fakori, Hugo Mazen Trommetter, Mohamed Nizar Bourehim, and Adam Bresnu.

The Moroccan golfers are eager to compete against the top ten ranked players in the International Series Order of Merit, as well as some renowned veterans like the Australian golfer Brett Rumford and Spain’s Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano.

Commenting on his participation in the Asian Tour International Series, Lguirati said: “As a Moroccan professional golfer, it is a privilege to be able to take part in this iconic competition in Morocco, especially as the red course at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam is known to be particularly challenging.”

“I am extremely honored to be able to represent my country in this event,” he added.

He explained that the opportunity is a chance to compete against some of the world’s best players and that he hopes to “succeed in achieving his objective of building a reputation and gaining experience to participate in other international series.”

Echoing Lguirati’s statement, Fakori said that he is “thrilled” to be taking part in the event. “I’m looking forward to learning and gaining experience from world-class players,” he expressed.

The International Series Morocco, which offers a $1.5 million (MAD 16.5 million) prize pool, plays an important role in determining both “the winner of the International Series money list” and “the Asian Tour Order of Merit champion,” according to the Asian Tour’s official website.

The high-profile International Series was launched earlier this year as a result of a landmark partnership between the Asian Tour and LIV Golf to invigorate the game in Asia and the Middle East.

Abderrahim Bouftas, President of the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, said: “The new International Series offers a chance for the world to see the very best from the Asian Tour and Moroccan golf.”

“We are proud of our golfing tradition and this is a wonderful opportunity for Moroccan sports fans to see world class golf at the prestigious Royal Golf Dar Es Salam Red Course,” the statement continued.
