Rabat – Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communications Mehdi Bensaid met today with Issawi Frej, Israel’s Minister of Regional Cooperation, to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the fields of culture and youth development.
During the meeting, Bensaid presented his Isareli interlocutor with the programs of his ministry to give an idea of the type of work his department seeks to promote. The two ministers reiterated the importance of establishing joint teams to organize collaborative projects that can benefit both countries’ youth.
Such projects might include summer camps and similar programs that can help young generations in the two countries to get to know each other’s cultures.
Bensaid also emphasized the importance of focusing on software development and the gaming industry as upcoming and important fields for the Moroccan youth.
Frej, who is on a working visit to Morocco, along with Israel’s Minister of Justice, Gideon Sa’ar, was quoted by Israeli news channel i24 that Morocco is a “model of cohabitation between individuals of various religions.”
Relations between Israel and Morocco have vastly improved since the two countries normalized their diplomatic ties in December 2020 as part of the US-brokered the Abraham Accords.
Earlier this month, both Israeli and American officials commended Morocco for playing a major role in facilitating negotiations between Israel and its neighbors to open the Allenby crossing.
