Rabat – The Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of Portugal in Morocco (CCISPM) on Friday announced the details of the opening of its regional delegation in Tangier, aiming to consolidate economic cooperation between the two countries.
The reception will take place on March 30 at 6:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Tangier, in the presence of Ambassador of Portugal in Morocco Bernardo Futscher Pereira and renowned public figures from the Tangier region.
The choice of Tangier as home to the chamber’s office reflects the growing international interest in the region as an African economic hub thanks to its state-of-art facilities such as Tanger Med port and Tanger Automotive City, the chamber said in a press release.
“Over the years, Tangier has become a hub for the automotive industry with its port and logistics free zone, the Tanger Automotive City, that has attracted more and more industrialists,” the CCISPM said.
Linked to a motorway and railway network, as well as Tanger Med port and Tanger Free Zone, the platform’s location attracts companies in the logistics and tertiary sectors.

Recognizing the potential of the Tangier region, CCISPM aims to continue mediating between Moroccan and Portuguese entrepreneurs to advance investment projects in the northern region.
Operating in Morocco since 2007, the Portuguese chamber contributes to the development of the bilateral relations between the two countries, underpinning their political will to consolidate diplomatic and economic cooperation.
Morocco and Portugal repeatedly expressed mutual interest in reinforcing the partnership between Madrid and Lisbon in various sectors.
In November, Morocco and Portugal signed an agreement on the creation of a Joint Economic Council in Casablanca. Led by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the Confederation of Portuguese Enterprises (CIP), the council was set to boost economies between the two neighbors and explore new areas of cooperation.
Later in January, Portugal’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Santos Silva applauded Morocco’s efforts and role as a “regional pole of stability and a driver of economic growth in Africa.”
