FC Barcelona is considering a transfer of Morocco’s national team goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, according to Spanish sports outlet Mundo Deportivo.
The outlet reported that FC Barcelona has recently been keeping an eye on several much-wanted goalkeepers.
Mundo Deportivo conducted a still ongoing poll, where Yassine Bounou ranked second among the five top goalkeepers favored by Barca fans.
Bounou ranked behind Iñaki Peña, who is on loan from FC Barcelona to Turkey’s Galatasaray Spor Kulubu.
“The most experienced and best known to Barça fans is Yassine Bounou,” the source wrote, noting that his market value is €15 million, and is under contract until 2024.
Bounou is “left-handed, 1.92 m tall, and a Moroccan international goalie,” according to Mundo Deportivo.
Bounou played for Atletico Madrid B, Zaragoza, and Girona before joining FC Sevilla in 2019 and becoming the starting goalkeeper in 2020.

Mundu Deportivo wrote that Bounou is among five goalkeepers that are being closely followed by Barca management — namely Illan Meslier (Leeds), Bartlomiej Dragowski (Fiorentina), Yassine Bounou (Sevilla), Maarten Vandevoordt (Genk) and Alban Lafont (Nantes).
Since his transfer to FC Sevilla in 2019, Bounou has been an indispensable player in coach Julen Lopeteghui’s line-up. His stellar performances have established him among the best in the Spanish top league LaLiga.
FC Sevilla’s goalkeeper has conceded a total of 13 goals out of 18 games played, the equivalent of a goal every 144 minutes, recording the best ratio of goals conceded per minute so far this year, according to La Liga.
Spanish fans affectionately refer to him as Bono. Bounou’s outstanding performance over the last two years allowed FC Sevilla to secure a place among the world’s greatest.
The 30-year old Bounou put in a strong showing with Morocco’s Atlas Lions at the recent AFCON and still has enough to offer both his Spanish club and his country. He is also assisting Sevilla in catching up to La Liga’s top squad, Real Madrid.
