Rabat – The UK embassy in Rabat celebrated on Monday the International Music Day to the tone of “L’Orchestre Philharmonique du Conservatoire de Musique de Casablanca.”

The embassy hosted the Garden reception, which Morocco World News attended, to celebrate music and improving ties between Morocco and the UK.

Ambassador Simon Martin and his wife Sophie Martin chaired the garden reception, welcoming guests, including musicians and students from the Casablanca School of Fine Arts.

The event also featured masterpieces, which the Casablanca School of Fine Arts students dedicated to the embassy. The art pieces included colorful portraits of Queen Elizabeth II.

The art pieces paid tribute to Queen Elisabeth II, whose 95th birthday was on the second Saturday of June.

During the event, Ambassador Simon Martin reminisced about the celebration of the Queen’s birthday and greeted guests, particularly the Casablanca Orchestra for lighting up the event.

The Casablanca Orchestra started the event with Morocco’s national anthem, before going on to perform other national and international musical pieces, including tunes from Egyptian iconic singer Oum Kalthum.

Violinist Merry performed several pieces of art and sang international music to which the ambassador and his wife Sophie danced.
