Rabat –  Morocco’s Ministry of Health announced today that 8,057,159 people are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Data published online shows that over 9, 374, 710 people have received the first dose of the vaccine.

Morocco launched the vaccination campaign on January 28. The campaign is gradually covering larger sections of society in accordance with age and health conditions.

The ministry prioritizes people with chronic diseases, the elderly, as well as people working on the frontline, such as those employed in security services, as teachers, and medical staff.

Regarding the number of COVID-19 cases, the total number of people who tested positive for COVID-19 has now reached 525, 924  since the outbreak of the pandemic in Morocco in March 2020.

Over 5,12,937 have already recovered, while 9,233 people have died due to the virus.

With restrictive measures now easing, Morocco is again recording a slight increase in the number of cases.

In the last 24 hours, Morocco recorded 481 cases, eight deaths, and 450 recoveries.

The number of active COVID-19 cases currently stands at an estimated 3,754, including 198 in critical conditions.

Head of Government Saad Eddine El Othmani highlighted the renewed upward trend in new infections in a statement on Thursday, calling on Moroccans to continue to maintain COVID-19 related preventative health measures.

El Othmani emphasized that following these rules is required “so that our country can emerge from the pandemic period safely.”
