Rabat – Visas for nationals of Morocco and Burkina Faso will soon no longer be required for citizens travelling between the two countries.

On Monday, an agreement was finalised with Alpha Barry, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“In accordance with the King’s instructions during his meeting with the Burkinabe president in Marrakech on 16 November, we were able to finalise an agreement for the removal of these visas, of which the signing could be made on a future occasion,” stated Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Moreover, Burkina Faso pledged its support for Morocco’s application for membership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) during this week’s visit in Rabat.

“Our position is that of welcome. We share the same space and Burkina is very prepared to discuss the question of Morocco’s membership to the ECOWAS,” said Barry.

The Burkinabe minister added that his country would give Morocco “permanent support in international and regional issues.”
