Rabat – Ahead of the Atlas Lions’ first 2018 World Cup performance Friday, King Mohammed VI has called Coach Hervé Renard and team captain Mehdi Benatia, according to a Royal Cabinet press statement.
The statement read: “During their conversation, the King extended his and the Moroccan people’s good luck wishes to all staff members, coaching staff, and players of the national team.”
In addition to wishing the national squad “full success” for the World Cup, King Mohammed VI “reiterated to the national team his full support and his encouragements ahead of this very important international tournament.”.
The Moroccan national squad, which has been impressive in its pre-World Cup friendly games, will take on the Iranian national team Friday, June 15, 2018, at 3 p.m. Moroccan time. They will then proceed to meet with Portugal and Spain, on June 20 and 25, respectively.
