The Interior Minister has asked the minister of justice and freedoms to open an investigation into the statements of Abdelaziz Aftati, MP of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), published Thursday in the press, to clarify what he meant by “known services”.
“The Al Massae daily published on Thursday, June 21, 2012, an article attributing statements to Abdelaziz Aftati, MP of the Justice and Development party, in which he warned what he called the ‘known services’ against collaborating with Salaheddine Mezouar, president of the National Rally of the Independents,” an interior ministry statement said.
The MP also said that “he will be forced to raise even more embarrassing issues should those services fail to cease their cooperation with Salaheddine Mezouar,” the statement added.
“Based on the ministry of the interior’s commitment to the principles of transparency and good governance, and given the seriousness of such accusations, and in accordance with the principles of the rule of law, the minister of the interior asked the minister of justice and freedoms to open an investigation into the statements of MP Abdelaziz Aftati, to clarify what he means by ‘services’, especially that this term is generally used to refer to security services, as well as the ‘more embarrassing files’ he claims to have,” the statement concluded.
